Stage: Pool 2 Round 1

Rodney Parade

Montpellier secured a narrow 18-14 victory over Dragons RFC at Rodney Parade. Aurelien Barreau's kicking prowess was crucial as he scored all of Montpellier's points, including two penalties and a conversion following Madosh Tambwe's try. Marco Tauleigne also crossed for a try, helping Montpellier build an early lead. The Dragons responded with a strong performance, with Taine Basham and Angus O'Brien scoring tries, the latter also adding conversions. The home side showed resilience but struggled to convert pressure into points during the second half. Despite multiple substitutions aimed at revitalizing their attack, Dragons could not breach Montpellier's defense again. The rainy conditions may have affected ball handling, but both teams displayed tenacity throughout the match.
