The Queensland Reds secured a commanding 35-21 victory against the Blues at Suncorp Stadium. Tom Lynagh was instrumental for the Reds, scoring two tries and converting all five attempts, showcasing his exceptional kicking ability. The Reds capitalized early, with Lynagh scoring a try in the third minute, followed by another just four minutes later. A pivotal moment occurred when Blues' Mark Tele'a received a red card in the 30th minute, leaving his team a man down. Despite Kurt Eklund scoring for the Blues just before halftime, the Reds maintained dominance in the second half. Tate McDermott and Richie Asiata added to the Reds' tally with tries, further extending their lead. The Blues managed to score two late tries, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
