Union Bordeaux-Bègles secured a thrilling 30-27 victory over Bayonne in a fiercely contested match at Stade Chaban-Delmas. Early tries from Depoortere and Cazeaux set a strong foundation for Bordeaux-Bègles, while Bayonne's Machenaud responded quickly to keep the pressure on. Joris Segonds' accurate kicking allowed Bayonne to stay in touch, converting a try and adding penalties. After halftime, Bordeaux's Matiu extended their lead, but Bayonne fought back with a try from Bruni and a drop goal from Segonds to narrow the gap. Both teams suffered yellow cards, leading to a tense final period. Yohan Orabe's late try brought Bayonne within striking distance, but Bordeaux-Bègles held on for the win. Matthieu Jalibert's contributions with the boot and in play were crucial for the home side's success.
