Newcastle Red Bulls secured a hard-fought 26-19 victory over USA Perpignan in the Challenge Cup. The match saw an explosive start with Perpignan's Yato crossing for an early try, but Newcastle responded quickly through Wade and Arnold, both scoring tries within minutes. Grayson contributed significantly, converting both tries before receiving a yellow card just past the half-hour mark. Granell's try for Perpignan narrowed the gap just before halftime, leaving the score at 21-12. In the second half, Obatoyinbo extended Newcastle's lead with a try, but Granell's second try kept Perpignan within striking distance. Despite a late surge from Perpignan, Newcastle's defense held firm, particularly with Petaia's yellow card complicating their efforts. Ultimately, Newcastle's solid performance at Kingston Park secured their win, advancing them in the competition.
