The Chiefs showcased their dominance with a commanding 42-12 victory over the Highlanders at FMG Stadium Waikato. Wallace Sititi opened the scoring for the Chiefs, followed by tries from Seuseu Naitoa Ah Kuoi and Samisoni Taukei'aho, all converted by Damian McKenzie, who had an exceptional game. The Highlanders briefly rallied with a try from Lucas Casey, converted by Cameron Millar, but were hampered by Tomas Lavanini's yellow card. In the second half, the Chiefs continued to assert their control, with Xavier Roe and Brodie McAlister adding to the scoreline.
